"I Realize, With Total Astonishment, That I'm in Ancient Egypt": My First Past Life Regression

I'm standing in the center of a hall, in front of a stone altar, inside an enormous temple. I look down at my body — I'm wearing a beautiful garment, jewelry on my dark, sun-worn arms. I'm unmistakably a woman.

I see a line of people waiting for me. And I know — I simply know — that every single one of them has come here longing for healing, physical or of the soul. I motion for the next person in line to come forward and lie down on the altar. I ask what's brought them here. Then I begin to chant prayers, to sing, guiding them down into trance. I know that it's only in this state that they can connect with the gods and ask for their affliction to be healed. Inside me there's a strange, calm certainty — a quiet strength. I am exactly where I'm meant to be, doing exactly the work I came here to do.

That's the "film" I found myself inside during my very first regression hypnosis session — a journey back into a past incarnation. I remember being genuinely shocked by how real it felt: the images, the sensations, the emotional texture of it all. What I'd seen was fascinating. It was also completely bewildering.

So I did what anyone would do — I went home and started digging through Google, trying to understand what I'd just experienced. And I learned something that stopped me: ancient Egypt really did have what were known as "sleep temples," places people traveled to seeking healing. Priestesses guided visitors into trance states using their voice and chanted mantras, and healing work was carried out from there. Historians consider this one of the earliest documented forms of hypnosis — with records dating back to roughly 2000 BCE, in Egypt.

Remembering, Not Learning

Something shifted for me after that session. It felt less like a memory I'd received and more like something that had always been there, quietly stored in my subconscious, suddenly available to my conscious awareness — the way you might suddenly recall a skill you didn't know you'd built, layered in over years.

I started studying hypnosis not long after. And through every training, every school, every certification since, I've had the same recurring sensation: that I'm not learning something new so much as remembering something I already knew.

I share this not to convince you it's objectively, provably true — I can't prove it, and I don't think that's really the point. Whether you experience past life regression as literal memory, as symbolic material surfacing from the subconscious, or as something in between, the value tends to be the same: insight, a felt shift, and often a strange, settled sense of recognition that's hard to argue with once you've felt it.

What Past Life Regression Actually Is

Past life regression uses a state of light hypnotic trance to access memories held in the subconscious — memories from childhood, from before birth, and, many practitioners and clients report, from past incarnations. It's been studied for decades by researchers and hypnotherapists alike. One of the early pioneers in this field was Dr. Michael Newton, an American hypnotherapist who spent his career researching this phenomenon and documented it in his book Journey of Souls.

If You're Curious to Explore This Yourself

If this kind of experience intrigues you, I'd love to invite you into my Journey of the Soul program — three sessions of regression hypnosis designed to let you explore your own soul's history, feel into its continuity across lifetimes, and understand something of its evolution.

  • Session 1 — Exploring the past life most connected to your current life situation

  • Session 2 — Exploring a past life of your happiest, most harmonious relationships

  • Session 3 — Exploring the gifts and talents your soul developed in past incarnations

You may walk away with new clarity on patterns and experiences from the past that are still quietly shaping your life today — and, perhaps, a few gifts of your own worth remembering.

Curious to know more? Send me a message to book a free 30-minute intro call, and let's talk about whether this journey is right for you.
